5 Hotels in China with Fantastic Architecture

KUPASONLINE.COM —As we all know, there are many skyscrapers in China. Just like the United Arab Emirates, the country seems to be obsessed with making tall and large buildings.

Apart from towering buildings, in China there are also many buildings with amazing architecture, one of which can be seen from the hotel complex.

In the midst of its impressive nature, China does not hesitate to build luxury hotels with architecture that makes people chuckle in awe, a sign that the future concept is already in the hands of its residents.

Here are a number of luxury hotels in China with fantastic architecture:

1. Amanyangyun
When you walk into the main lobby of Amanyangyun, Nan Shu Fang, it’s as if you’ve stepped into the passage of time in ancient times.

This hotel, located in Jiangxi Province, has been operating since 2002. The area is surrounded by ancient villages during the Ming and King Dynasties and wilderness.

The philanthropist Ma Dadong was born and raised here. When he returned home he realized that the construction of the dam would submerge the village, so he immediately arranged to move the ancient houses and trees to the area that is now the location of this luxury hotel.

2. Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain
Located at the foot of Mount Qingcheng, the holiest place for Taoists and a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Six Senses hotel is sure to embody the cultural charm of Chengdu, the center of panda habitat and the culinary center of Sichuan.

Spanning 11 hectares, there are 113 villas on the property connected by bridges, all designed to resemble an ancient Chinese village.

Along with the indulgent amenities, guests can also take advantage of access to explore the nearby panda sanctuary and the thousand-year-old Dujiangyan irrigation system – a feat of ancient Chinese engineering prowess.

3. Capella Sanya
Known as China’s Hawaii, the island province of Hainan has become a mainstay for China’s domestic tourism economy, with tourist arrivals increasing by nearly 70 percent between 2010 and 2015.

The island’s crown jewel is Capella Sanya, located on the south coast and designed by hotel design superstars, Jean-Michel Gathy and Bill Bensley, in a stunning mix of East and West architecture.

Three restaurants and a cocktail bar offer plenty of choice for foodies, while a selection of Chinese teas feature prominently on all drink menus.

Rest and relaxation are mandatory here, fulfilled by a visit to the Auriga Wellness spa complex which has ten rooms themed from Morocco to snow.

4. Alila Yangshuo
Located inside an abandoned communist-era sugar factory nestled between Guilin’s iconic limestone cliffs, Alila Yangshuo is an absolute underdog when it comes to natural scenery.

Vector Architects and Horizontal Space Design are responsible for the design of this hotel which still preserves the historic architecture of the original building.

Various factory rooms were cleverly renovated into new rooms: the storage tank became the Alila Spa; press room to 1969 Bar; the boiler room became a library.

5. InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland Hotel
InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland’s magnificent, beautiful, and unique architecture deserves applause.

The hotel has 336 rooms nestled into the cliff walls of a former mining area in the Sheshan Mountains.

Of the 18 floors, as many as two floors are under the lake, presenting a stunning view.

It took a decade and 5,000 workers to build this hotel designed by Studio JADE + QA.

They are also responsible for the phenomenal architecture of Dubai’s Burj Al-Arab.(*)
